Good News Club

A 2018-2019 Frederica Baptist Mission Outreach

Good News Club at C.B. Greer Elementary School

God has opened the doors of public schools to the Gospel.  All boys and girls ages 5 to 12 are welcome to attend this after school club where trained volunteers share the Gospel and teach the Bible through scripture, lessons, songs, prayer, and games.

The ultimate goal is for children and their families to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Good News Club children take the Good News home to their families.

Can you really make a difference in a child's life by volunteering 2 hours a week at Good News Club?
The answer is yes!  You can and do make a difference.  Together we are building God's kingdom.

Don't grow weary (Gal. 6:9).
Thank you for your obedience to our Lord:

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: "God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I'll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age." (Matt.28:19&20 MSG)

Thanks again for loving like Jesus!

For His Glory,

Dear Frederica Church,

I have just completed another year of Good News Club at C.B. Greer Elementary School and wanted to express my appreciation for all that your church does for that Club. I look back over the years of your involvement with our children and it is very difficult to adequately thank all of you. It is not just the monetary support you give so that this club can exist, but you have supplied many willing volunteers that represent the love of our Savior to these children. From the preparation and the prayers that go into each meeting, I can testify that each effort is felt and the children are ready to hear God's Word way before our actual club meeting. Some of you have prayed for specific prayers offered by our children and they will never know the love that has been poured into them even before they step into the classrooms. Some of our children lack the godly love at home that we, as teachers sponsored by you, can step in and supply unconditionally with only the love that comes from our Savior.

Every week our children are supplied with snacks that come from groups in your church. They love having something to eat before our session starts and it helps not only with satisfying their hunger, but gives them time to settle in from their normal school session. This also provides time for them to share concerns and joys so that all the children and adults can celebrate in their excitement or pray over concerns in their life. Over the years there have been many children that have received Bibles, which for some has been their first Bible. Bible stories are shared and memory verses learned that have been a direct result of your involvement. Women in your church have faithfully shared their time and talents to make our "wordless books" available to all the children.

There is much to thank you for, but mostly I thank you each time I have had the privilege of being with a child that has just asked Jesus into their heart. We all desire to reflect Jesus in our lives, but when I look on the face of a child that has just been saved, I feel as though I see the reflection of our Savior looking back at me. My life has been changed because of those times.

I know you have faithful workers from Frederica Baptist, one of which is Marsha Smith, who has been our leader each year. I encourage anyone that feels a place to serve these children, in whatever capacity, will realize the blessings that I have. It is not always easy, sometimes discouraging, but always rewarding and fruitful. Again, my appreciation to your willingness to serve God in this outreach.

God's Blessings to you,
A. M.
